DISTINCTIVE (high-confidence finding): the world-famous Pentecost Island land-diving ritual (Naghol) is a DISTINCT, LATER rite from circumcision, not a substitute for it - boys are circumcised first (age 7-8), THEN may participate in land diving as a separate culminating manhood passage (confirmed 3-0 sequencing, 2-1 functional distinctness, corroborated by academic ethnography Jolly 1994/Lipp 2008).
