Brit milah (Jewish ritual circumcision) and Crimean Tatar Muslim circumcision are practised as religious customs without state regulation, following the end of Soviet-era covert practice after Ukrainian independence in 1991. Female genital mutilation is a separate matter and must not be conflated with male circumcision.
