Research note: El Salvador DEEP_BUILT 2026-07-12. Morris 2016 PMC4772313: 0.11% (confirmed 3-0), same tier as Bolivia/Ecuador/Guatemala/Paraguay. DISTINCTIVE: genuinely a "no minority-community circumcision angle" case (Central America's most homogeneous country, esp. post-1979-92 civil war) - but found a real, well-documented and unrelated religious-transformation finding instead: 2023 M&R Consultores survey shows Protestantism (43.5%) has overtaken Catholicism (36.2%) as the largest affiliation, 19.3% no religion, confirmed as a genuine decades-long trend (academic tracking 1988-2009) with NO established link to circumcision practice. No specific Evangelical denomination found with a circumcision teaching. No statute found (not on ARC Law's list). No verified harm case (honest gap). HIV ~0.4% (2023, World Bank/UNAIDS - WebSearch supplement). UNREGULATED. NOT VMMC priority. Sources #1494-1501. FOURTH of Batch 4 (Central America).

Legal status

Unregulated

This research did not locate a Salvadoran statute specifically addressing non-therapeutic male circumcision. This research did not independently verify El Salvador's female genital mutilation legal status either. Female genital mutilation is a separate matter and must not be conflated with male circumcision.
