what's your opinion on filipino culture when it comes to circumcision?

I got cut around 12 yrs old. My mom is a nurse and she said it's better to be cut if you want to clean your man parts easier. As a neat freak, I don't want to worry about getting dick cheese so this is a win for me. But I guess it's more on the bullying part that will "motivate" you to get it done for most boys, unless the culture changes.

As for peer pressure, it's fucking stupid. Yes it is. Even if you teach the boring sciency part to kids, the culture of tuli is deeply rooted na to the point that kids will still be bullied if supot sila. What's the kid going to do? Discuss science with his bullies until they see reason? 😅 It's the culture that has to change big time for circumcision to not be seen as a necessity and a badge of honor. In my case, I would still prefer to be cut but if others don't want to, I wouldn't care.

As I said, you do you. Maybe advocate this over at Facebook or Tiktok if you really want to get it off your chest? Publish an article at a newspaper even, or be teacher that teaches these. How old are you anyway? If you're not yet cut and your parents are forcing you to do it, explain these things you've compiled and stand your ground. Maybe be the first kid to refuse and be successful in growing up uncut in a community that bullies kids into misery. Also, this isn't just an education thing as some of you have been pointing out as culture plays a bigger role. Sure, teach children how to clean their genitals properly and the pros and cons of being uncut, but as long as there's a kid who's out there being "initiated into manhood", expect uncut kids to be looked down upon. I know, it's stupid, but that's the way the culture here has viewed circumcision. Maybe in the future, it'll change but for now, that witch doctor who does the operation over at the nearby riverbed will still be doing his thing to young boys, same with a lot of doctors and nurses all over the country.

Circumcision is never ok I'm OK with it despite being informed, so I guess it is sometimes OK? There are medical conditions such as Phimosis too that require the removal of the foreskin to be treated. It's not black and white. Again, the main problem is the culture of discrimination against uncircumcised men. Remove that and the decision to be cut or uncut will most likely be up to who owns a dick.

BS. It’s not that hard to clean your foreskin. Also I’ve never had “dick cheese” not have the uncut men I’ve been with. I’m so sick of the American ignorance when it comes to foreskin. Foreskin is not dirty, most men in the world have theirs, and we never have hygiene issues or infections.

How would you empower a pre-teen boy to NOT be swayed by the teasing from his peers and to make the choice his own? Just asking, kasi nung first year high school kami, the other boys in class learned that one of our classmates was not circumcised and he was teased incessantly about it. He got circumcised during the school break.
